The Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences is a great place for kids to learn about the natural world, with exhibitions on geology, zoology and paleontology. Cinquantenaire Park has gardens to explore, pedal cars to rent and a large playground.
If you have more time, consider taking a day trip to Bruges to explore its picturesque canals and medieval buildings. Alternatively, swap out some of the listed activities for a visit to the Royal Palace of Brussels, the Museum of the Belgian Brewers or a chocolate-making workshop.
