4-Day Budapest Itinerary

  1. Day 1: St. Stephen's Basilica
    15 minutes (1.2 km) from Budapest-Nyugati Station

Start your Budapest adventure at one of the city's most iconic landmarks, St. Stephen's Basilica. Climb to the top of the dome for a stunning panoramic view of the city. The Basilica is named after the first king of Hungary and displays a great blend of neoclassical and Renaissance architecture. Don't miss the chance to see the relic of Stephen I, the mummified right hand of the saint, located in the chapel. During the summer, open-air concerts are held in front of the entrance.

  2. Day 2: Hungarian Parliament Building
20 minutes (1.9 km) from St. Stephen's Basilica

The Hungarian Parliament building is one of the most impressive government buildings in Europe. This neo-Gothic masterpiece sits on the banks of the Danube and is the largest building in Hungary. Take a guided tour to see the stunning interior, including the Crown Jewels and the Hungarian Holy Crown. You can also see the changing of the guards at the front entrance. There are many excellent restaurants nearby, so take a break and grab some Hungarian cuisine.

  3. Day 3: Széchenyi Thermal Baths
20 minutes (3.3 km) from Hungarian Parliament Building

No trip to Budapest is complete without a visit to the thermal baths. Széchenyi is one of the largest thermal bath complexes in Europe and is the perfect place to unwind and relax. There are multiple outdoor and indoor pools, saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs. The water in the baths is supplied by two thermal springs, which are said to have medicinal purposes. Massages and other treatments are also available for an additional cost.

  4. Day 4: Fisherman's Bastion
15 minutes (1.3 km) from Matthias Church

Fisherman's Bastion is a neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque terrace located in the Buda Castle complex. The viewpoint provides a stunning view of the city and is ideal for photography. The name comes from the fishermen who defended this part of the city during medieval times. The seven towers on the terrace represent the seven tribes who founded Hungary.
