Spend the day in Vienna, the capital city of Austria. Start your day by visiting the Schönbrunn Palace, one of the most significant cultural monuments in Austria, and then head to the famous St. Stephen’s Cathedral known for its many mosaic works and a unique view from the top. Afterwards, wander around the historic marketplace, Naschmarkt, and try unique cuisines from local vendors.
Salzburg's old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a wealth of baroque buildings, churches and castles. Begin with a tour of Festung Hohensalzburg, one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe, before traversing the Mirabell Palace and Gardens. Visit the Neuschwanstein Castle, one of the most remarkable castles in the world where the fairytale princesses and prince lived. Then complete the day with the traditional Bavarian lunch at Hofbräuhaus, where savory schnitzel, meatballs, pretzels, and local ales awaits you.
The English Garden is a classic German park boasting surfing waves, a traditional biergarten, and a Japanese garden. Afterward, visit the BMW Museum, showcasing motorbikes, planes, and cars from a hundred years back. The futuristic building is a must-see too.
Take a break and dedicate your last day to souvenir shopping in the old town of Munich. The most remarkable markets are Viktualienmarkt that sells food, jewelry, and accessories. From there, proceed to Marienplatz, the heart of Munich, where the distinctive clock chimes the hours, and savor the essence of traditional Munich at the Maximilianstrasse.
If you have more time, consider adding excursions like unearthing Prague’s medieval history or a day’s trip to the Weiner Prater in Vienna, full of fairground rides, beer gardens, games and servings of Viennese culinary delights.
If you have less time, then consider combining Day 3 and Day 4 into one day and hop on a train from Vienna to Munich. Make sure to check venue opening times and train schedules based on your travel dates to avoid cancellations or disruptions.
