Sutton Park is on the top of the list when it comes to natural places to visit in Birmingham. Spanning over 2400 acres, Sutton Park is a National Nature Reserve, Europe's greatest place of urban wildlife with over 50 species of plants and animals. It comprises woodlands, wetlands, marshes, and seven lakes, which offers visitors a great opportunity to engage in nature. You can go for a walk, cycle along the trails or perform some activities like horse riding or golfing. There are also some fantastic pubs and cafes that you can visit while at the park.
Lickey Hills Country Park is a great natural attraction in Birmingham and an excellent option for nature enthusiasts. It is quite a large park that originated from a Victorian Regeneration program that created a sanctuary for deer and other wild animals. The park covers hills and vast woodlands boasting a plant life conifer trees, snowdrops, bluebells, and wildflowers. There are plenty of trails you can explore, including cycling paths, horse riding trails and walking routes. At the center of the park, there is a Visitor Center offering refreshments, educational tours, and exhibitions.
If you have more time, try visiting other natural attractions like Brindley Place Canals and the Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park. If you would like to spend less time, visit only one park or alternatively spend time exploring nearby towns like Solihull or Walsall. You can also bring some food and drinks to enjoy a picnic or visit some of the restaurants around.
