Begin your adventure by scaling the summit of Mount Wellington. At 1,271 metres high, this peak provides stunning views of Hobart and the surrounding area. Hike up to the top or take a shuttle bus to the summit. Don't forget to bring warm clothing as temperatures can be much cooler at the top.
Experience the beauty of southern Tasmania's forests with a visit to Tahune Adventures. Take a treetop walk or zip-line tour through the forest, or explore the Huon River with a riverboat cruise. If you're feeling daring, take on the Airwalk, a suspended walkway that extends over the forest canopy.
Get up close and personal with Tasmanian wildlife at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. See Tasmanian devils, wombats, and kangaroos, among other animals. You can also hand-feed kangaroos and get a chance to see the animals being cared for by the sanctuary's rescue team.
Cruise around the rugged coastline of Bruny Island with the Bruny Island Adventure Cruise. You'll see sea caves, towering cliffs, and get a chance to spot dolphins, seals and migrating whales. The cruise includes lunch with local Tasmanian produce and a stop at the island's ancient lighthouse.
Explore Tasmania's convict past with a visit to the Port Arthur Historic Site. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of Australia's most significant heritage destinations, with over 30 historic buildings and ruins, including the notorious Penitentiary, which housed some of Australia's most dangerous criminals.
If you have more time, consider taking a day trip to the Tasman Peninsula to see attractions such as the Tasman Arch and the Tasman Blowhole. A visit to the Museum of Old and New Art is also highly recommended for art lovers. If you have less time, skip some of the longer attractions or plan to spend less time at each attraction in order to squeeze everything into your schedule.
