Transportation around Avalon is mainly on foot as there are no cars in town. However, you can also take a golf cart or rent a bike for a more adventurous experience. A round trip from Los Angeles to Avalon on the Catalina Express ranges from $72 to $75 and takes approximately one hour by boat.
If you have more time, consider hiking the Trans-Catalina Trail and exploring the abandoned Safari Park. If you have less time, skip the Mt. Ada visit and/or the Catalina Island Conservancy. Also, consider getting the Catalina Island Explorer Card for deals and discounts.
Avalon has the Catalina Airport (AVX) which offers flights mainly to and from the Los Angeles area. It is located on the Santa Catalina Island and is a few miles from Avalon.
