Transportation:
Transportation around Avalon is mainly on foot as there are no cars in town. However, you can also take a golf cart or rent a bike for a more adventurous experience. A round trip from Los Angeles to Avalon on the Catalina Express ranges from $72 to $75 and takes approximately one hour by boat.
Useful Tips:
If you have more time, consider hiking the Trans-Catalina Trail and exploring the abandoned Safari Park. If you have less time, skip the Mt. Ada visit and/or the Catalina Island Conservancy. Also, consider getting the Catalina Island Explorer Card for deals and discounts.
Airports:
Avalon has the Catalina Airport (AVX) which offers flights mainly to and from the Los Angeles area. It is located on the Santa Catalina Island and is a few miles from Avalon.
