Begin your spiritual journey at the Katra base camp, the starting point for the trek to the holy shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. The trek is approximately 14 kilometers long and takes around 4-6 hours to complete. You can hire a pony or palki if you prefer not to walk.
Reach the Bhawan, the main shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, and seek the blessings of the divine goddess. The Bhawan is a cave temple located at an altitude of 5,200 feet. It is believed that the goddess fulfills the wishes of all her devotees who visit her with a pure heart.
After the darshan, visit Charan Paduka, which is situated at an altitude of 3,380 feet. It is believed that the goddess stopped here to rest while on her way to the Bhawan. The rock imprints are said to be the footprints of the goddess.
Continue your journey to Adhkunwari, a holy cave located at an altitude of 4,000 feet. It is believed that the goddess meditated here for nine months before finally assuming the form of Vaishno Devi. The cave has several idols and a natural rock formation that resembles a human womb.
Conclude your pilgrimage by visiting the Baba Bhaironath Temple, located at an altitude of 6,700 feet. It is believed that the pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi is incomplete without seeking the blessings of Bhaironath. The temple offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
After completing the darshan and exploring the holy sites, begin your descent back to Katra. You can take the same route or choose the newly constructed Bhawan-Bhairon Ghati track for a different experience. The descent usually takes around 3-4 hours.
