Start the day with a scenic drive through the Western Ghats to Vagamon Hill Station. First, take a 1.5-hour nature walk into the Pine Forest, a popular spot for adventurous travellers with its rope bridges and breathtaking views. Then head over to the Vagamon Lake where you can enjoy boating and horse riding. Cap off the day with a visit to the Indo-Swiss project facility at the Kurisumala Ashram, where you can learn about sustainable farming and shop for organic products. Stay overnight in Vagamon.
Take a scenic drive to Alleppey for a leisurely day on the backwaters. Start your morning with a tour of the Kuttanad Canals on a houseboat. The boat ride will take you through serene villages and across canals with views of rice paddies and coconut groves. For lunch head to Harbour Restaurant serving traditional seafood dishes. After lunch, visit the Alleppey Beach and enjoy the sunset. End the day with a visit to the Alleppey Lighthouse, a 143-year-old landmark offering stunning views of the Arabian Sea.
If you have extra time, consider visiting the Idukki Arch Dam, one of the highest arch dams in Asia, or the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary for a guided jungle tour. Alternatively, if you have limited time, consider skipping Kurisumala Ashram and Alleppey Lighthouse. Please note that Kuttanad Canals might close during monsoon season from June to September.
