The Edakkal Caves are natural caves located 1200 meters above sea level. The caves feature Stone Age carvings dating back to 6000 BC. Visitors will need to climb a steep hill with well-laid steps to reach the caves. The breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and valleys from the caves is worth the climb.
Kuruva Island is a beautiful, uninhabited island located in the middle of the Kabani River. The island is covered with dense forests and is home to a variety of flora and fauna. Visitors can take a walk through the island’s lush green forest and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of nature. A bamboo rafting experience to reach the island is also available for adventure seekers.
The Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earthen dam in India and the second-largest in Asia. The dam features beautiful views of lush green mountains, a freshwater lake, and a small scenic island. Activities such as boating, trekking and zip-lining are available at the dam for visitors.
If you have an extra day, visit the Soochipara Waterfalls that are located 40 minutes away from the Sulthan Bathery. The falls are surrounded by lush evergreen forests and are a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. If you have less time, you can skip Kuruva Island and spend more time at the Edakkal Caves and Banasura Sagar Dam.
