Start your Wayanad adventure by heading to the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is India's largest earthen dam. Built on the Banasura hill, this dam is surrounded by breathtaking views of the mountains, forests and the stunning backwaters. With options for trekking, boating, and zip-lining, this place is a haven for adventure enthusiasts.
Get an early start to Day 2 by driving to Chembra Peak, which is the highest peak in the Wayanad district. A trek up this peak leads to a heart-shaped lake called Hridaya Saras, which is believed to have medicinal properties. The trek is about 4 km long, and takes roughly 3 hours to complete. The view from the top is worth all the effort put in to get there.
End your adventure in Wayanad by visiting the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary houses some of the most endangered species of flora and fauna. A jeep ride through the sanctuary will give you many opportunities to spot animals such as elephants, tigers, panthers, and various species of birds.
If you have more time, consider visiting additional trekking locations such as Neelimala View Point or Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary. For those with less time, we recommend skipping the Banasura Sagar Dam or the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary.
