Prepare for a challenging but rewarding trek up the Kumara Parvatha, the second-highest peak in Karnataka. This 13 km trek offers breathtaking views of the countryside and allows you to witness some of the most beautiful and untouched parts of the Western Ghats. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for the trek.
Spend the day exploring the Kuruva Island, located in the middle of the River Kabani. The island boasts of lush green forests, crystal-clear streams and serene natural surroundings. Board a bamboo raft and take a peaceful ride through the stream and savour the sights and sounds of the jungle.
Start your day by hiking up to Chembra Peak, located at an altitude of 6,890 feet. On the trek uphill, enjoy the scenic beauty of lush green forests and a panoramic view of the Karappuzha Dam. The highlight of your trek will be the sight of the heart-shaped lake. After conquering the peak, head back to Kalpetta for a relaxing evening.
If you have more time, you can visit the Edakkal Caves or the Thirunelli Temple. If you have less time, skip the Kumara Parvatha trek or Chembra Peak trek.
