Begin your trip with a visit to the iconic Padmanabhaswamy Temple, a must-see for its stunning Dravidian-style architecture and spiritual significance as one of the 108 Divya Desams. Explore the temple complex and learn about its interesting history and legends. Take note that non-Hindus are not allowed inside the temple.
Relax and soak up the sun at the beautiful Kovalam Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Kerala. Enjoy a refreshing swim, try some local snacks at the vendors, or take a stroll to explore the nearby lighthouse and fishing village.
Take a heritage train ride on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, also known as the "Toy Train," and witness the stunning scenery of the Himalayas, waterfalls, and tea plantations along the way. Afterward, head to Tiger Hill and catch a glorious sunrise view of Mount Everest and the Kangchenjunga range.
Learn about mountaineering history and techniques at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, founded by Tenzing Norgay, one of the first climbers to summit Mount Everest. Next, visit the Peace Pagoda, a serene Buddhist temple with breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys. Take a moment to meditate and reflect on your trip before heading back home.
If you have extra time, you may want to try some local tea at a tea estate in Darjeeling or visit the nearby Chokling Monastery. If you have less time, you could combine Days 2 and 4 and spend a half-day at both Kovalam Beach and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Keep in mind that the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and Tiger Hill may be closed during the monsoon season (June to September), so plan your trip accordingly.
