Start your adventure with a visit to Leh Palace, a 17th century palace located atop a hill. The palace was once home to the royal family of Ladakh. The palace consists of nine storeys and includes a museum showcasing the history of Ladakh. The panoramic view from the palace is a treat to the eyes. Spend some time exploring the palace and the surrounding areas.
Embark on a long scenic drive to Nubra Valley, located in the northeast of Ladakh. The valley is known for its sand dunes, monasteries, and scenic beauty. Cross the highest motorable pass in the world, Khardung La, at 18,380 feet. Visit Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra Valley. Take a ride on the double-humped camel at Hunder Sand Dunes.
On your final day, visit Pangong Tso Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. The lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and changes colour throughout the day. The blue water of the lake is a treat for the eyes and offers a perfect opportunity for photography. The lake extends from India to China and visitors require permits to visit the lake.
If you have more time, you can include trips to Tso Moriri Lake and Zanskar Valley. Adventure enthusiasts can go for hiking, camping and trekking in the beautiful valleys and mountains of Ladakh. If you have less time, you can skip Nubra Valley and directly visit Pangong Tso Lake. It is advisable to carry warm clothes and sunscreen, as Ladakh is known for its harsh climate.
