Start your day by exploring the charming French Quarters that Pondicherry is famous for. Take a relaxing stroll along the cobblestone streets and enjoy the quaint architecture of the French-style houses, boutiques, and cafes. Do not miss the gorgeous Our Lady of Angels Church, one of the oldest in India. Later, head to the Promenade Beach, one of the longest beaches in India, and watch the sunset holding hands with your loved one.
The spiritual community of Auroville with its famous golden dome, Matrimandir, is perfect for a quiet and peaceful start to a day. Take a guided tour to understand the history, philosophy and architecture of the place. After spending some time meditating in the Matrimandir, head to the nearby Auroville Bakery for fresh bread and coffee. Return to the French Quarters for a sumptuous seafood lunch at Le Club then explore the boutiques and art galleries.
On your final day, start with a cultural visit to the Pondicherry Museum. The museum boasts a unique collection of sculptures, artefacts, and colonial furniture, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Pondicherry. After a morning at the museum, head to the famous Paradise Beach. Catch a ferry to the beach and spend the rest of the day snorkelling and sunbathing in the peaceful surroundings of palm trees and golden sand. Return to your hotel by evening and enjoy a romantic dinner.
If you have more time, you can plan an evening visit to the Ousteri Lake, go for a cycling tour in the French Quarters or spend half a day exploring the famous Sri Aurobindo Ashram. However, if you have less than 3 days, you can skip Auroville or the Pondicherry Museum and spend more time at the beach. Try to avoid travelling during peak summers as the temperature can soar up to 40°C.
