Start the day early with a drive to Kudremukh National Park, situated in the Western Ghats and known for its rich biodiversity. Take a guided trek through the forests and spot various wildlife like tigers, leopards, and elephants. You can also visit the Kudremukh Peak, which offers a stunning view of the surroundings, and the Kadambi Falls. The park is closed during monsoon season from June to September.
Located in the honeypot-shaped valley of Chikmangalore, Hirekolale Lake provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxing day. Take a stroll through the lush greenery surrounding the lake, rent a boat, and sail across the tranquil waters. There are also various food stalls surrounding the lake offering local snacks like vada pav and bhel puri. The lake is open from 8 am to 6 pm every day except Tuesdays.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary or the coffee plantations of the region. If you have less time, you can skip the Kudremukh trek and visit the Kudremukh peak and Kadambi Falls instead. Note that many national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in the area are closed during monsoon season from June-September, so plan accordingly.
