Witness the daily rituals like the mangala aarti, bhog, and sandhya aarti. The temple is busy throughout the year, and you may have to queue up to enter, but it is worth the wait.
Visit India's largest lagoon lake, Chilika, which is home to a vast range of bird species, including flamingos, herons, and storks. It is a stunning spot to relax and enjoy the natural scenery or take part in boating or fishing activities. You can also visit the Kalijai Temple, which is located on an island in the lake. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali and is visited by thousands of devotees every day. You can also indulge in some fresh seafood like crabs and prawns, which are readily available in the nearby towns.
If you have more time, you can visit other attractions nearby, such as the Konark Sun Temple (35 km from Puri). However, keep in mind that it may take a whole day to explore this temple entirely. If you have less time, you can skip the visit to Chilika Lake and spend some time at the Puri beach instead. Do carry some snacks and water, especially while visiting the Jagannath Temple, as there can be a considerable queue to enter. Photography is prohibited inside the temple complex, so make sure you don't carry any cameras or phones with you. You can keep in mind that the temple opens at 5:00 AM and closes at 10:00 PM.
