Gokarna is known for its breathtaking beaches and is a perfect destination for nature lovers. Start with a visit to the Kudle Beach which offers a serene environment and an opportunity to take a dip in the sea. Next, head to the Om Beach, the most famous beach in Gokarna, known for its stunning rock formations and the shape of its coast that resembles the Hindu symbol of "Om." After spending quality time at Om Beach, it's time to head to the Half Moon Beach, known for its crescent shape nestled between two hills, which offers a great spot for some tranquillity and peace. End your day with a visit to the Shiva Cave, considered to be a meditative spot for Shiva devotees.
On this day, go on a wildlife safari at the Sharavathi Wildlife Sanctuary, a habitat for several endangered species like tigers, leopards, and lion-tailed macaque. After enjoying the Safari, head to the Jog Falls, the second-highest plunge waterfall in India. Take a break and soak in the beauty of the falls while enjoying a picnic. You can also go to the viewing platform that allows you to admire the falls entirely. Finish the day by taking a boat trip from the falls watching tower to the bottom of the falls and then moving to the rock outcrop where you can play in the water.
If you have more time, visit the Murudeshwar Temple which is famous for the 123 feet statue of Lord Shiva. You can also indulge in adventure activities like parasailing, banana boat rides, and jet-skis at the Honnavar Beach. In case you have less time, choose between either the Sharavathi Wildlife Sanctuary or the Jog Falls for a day trip. The Sharavathi Wildlife Sanctuary can be skipped if you're not in the mood for a long safari or skip the Jog Falls if you don't want to cover the distance.
