The Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is a crucial habitat for the Bengal tiger, the black panther, and numerous other wild animals, including deer, wild boars, and various bird species. The sanctuary offers several activities for visitors, including nature walks, jungle safaris, and birdwatching. Jungle safaris are a must-do activity, where one can see wildlife in its natural habitat from a safe distance.
The Supa Dam generates electricity from the waters of River Kali and forms the Supa reservoir. This can be a great spot for a picnic. The picturesque surroundings of the Supa Dam offer an excellent backdrop for photographs. Visitors can go boating and enjoy the scenic beauty of the reserve on the reservoir.
The Syntheri Rock is named after a British woman named Cinthera who discovered it in the year 1912. A beautiful monolithic granite structure is formed naturally over centuries due to the River Kaneri flowing over it. Hence it is also known as the ‘Monster Rock’ or ‘Pattapole’. The views from the top of the rock are mesmerizing.
Kali River is known for its amazing bamboo boat rides, kayaking, and white water rafting. As it flows through the dense forest, the rapids are unforgettable. The river has rapids ranging from grade 2 to grade 3, making it a perfect spot for first-timers and experts. The river flows along the Karnataka-Goa border, adding to the beauty of the experience.
Located in the midst of forests, the Sathodi Falls is an excellent spot to relax and rejuvenate. The water falls from a height of 50 feet and doesn't let you resist taking a dip in the cool water. The nearby forest area is also an excellent place for nature walks, photography, and bird watching. This serene and untouched waterfall is a sight to behold.
This 2-day itinerary includes the best of Dandeli. However, visitors can extend their stay to enjoy Dandeli's many other attractions such as night camping, coracle rides, mountain biking, or kayaking. Adding an extra day will also help visitors to relax in Dandeli's peaceful atmosphere and explore nearby attractions such as Anshi National Park, Ulavi Temple, or visit the Ganeshgudi bird sanctuary.
For visitors with less time, we recommend skipping the Syntheri Rock or Sathodi Falls, and instead spending more time exploring Dandeli Wildlife sanctuary or Kali River White Water Rafting.
