A perfect start to the itinerary is the highest peak in Karnataka, Mullayanagiri. It's an ideal place to experience trekking, enjoy scenic views of the mountains and grasslands, and spot rare bird species. The trek to the peak is moderate, suitable for beginner trekkers as well as children accompanied by adults. Enjoy the stunning views of the sunrise from the peak and tea from the local tea shops.
A perfect destination for a picnic with family is the magnificent Hebbe Falls. The falls are surrounded by dense greenery and offer a serene atmosphere. You can swim in the pool or take a relaxing bath under the cascading waterfall. The road to reach the waterfall is bumpy and on the way, you can spot some wildlife. Prefer to carry food, drinks, and other essentials as there are no restaurants or stores nearby.
If you have more time, do visit some of the town's famous coffee plantations like the Jhari Falls, Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, and Kudremukh. Chikamangalur is also famous for its traditional sweets and savories. If you have less time, you can skip the trek to Mullayanagiri and instead visit the Baba Budangiri mountain range, which is nearby and offers scenic views. Avoid visiting during monsoons as the roads leading to these places can become inaccessible.
