The palace houses several attractions such as the Doll Pavilion, Kalyana Mantapa, and the Art Gallery. Visitors can witness the grandeur of the palace during the Light & Sound show organized in the evenings.
The Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery is home to a vast collection of Chinese, Indian, and European art. Visitors can marvel at ancient musical instruments, paintings, and sculptures, including works by Raja Ravi Varma. The gallery is named after Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar, the last Maharaja of Mysore.
St. Philomena's Church is a beautiful gothic-style church built-in 1956. The church is dedicated to Saint Philomena, a Christian martyr of the Roman Catholic Church. Visitors can admire the beautiful stained glass windows and intricate architecture of the church.
Chamundi Hill, at a height of 1065 meters, is dedicated to Goddess Chamundeswari, an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple, located on top of the hill, is a popular pilgrimage spot and offers an excellent view of Mysuru. Visitors are advised to visit the hill early in the morning as the queue for the temple can get quite long.
Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum is home to some of the most stunning sand sculptures. The sand sculptures depict different mythological stories, and the attention to detail is impeccable. The museum also conducts workshops where visitors can learn to create sand art.
For travelers with more time, a visit to the Brindavan Gardens and the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens can be added to the itinerary. To shorten the itinerary, the Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum can be skipped as it is located quite far from the other attractions.
