Start your trip with a dizzying walk on the First Cliff Walk. The 45-minute walkway boasts stunning panoramas of the Bernese Alpine peaks and glaciers and Germany's Black forest hills. Get the adrenaline pumping with the 'First Flyer', an exciting zipline that glides over 800 meters from First to Schreckfeld.
Head to Lauterbrunnen, where the cascading Trummelbach Falls are situated. It's a spectacular site, where the thundering waterfalls are funneled through narrow gorges. Take a cable car to Murren and enjoy traditional Swiss cuisine while overlooking the valley.
A non-strenuous, family-friendly walk to Bachalpsee, which offers the perfect picnic spot. The first half of the route is via cable car, and the remaining walk to Bachalpsee Lake is through a lush green meadow. For the more active hiker, Faulhorn's summit is ideal. The elevated view of Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau is stunning.
The unique Alphorn Festival, held in Schynige Platte, is perfect for families who want to experience Swiss mountain culture. The festival showcases traditional alphorns and other folk music. After enjoying the music, take a ride on the cogwheel railway to Wilderswill and back to enjoy wonderful vistas of surrounding alpine regions.
The Grindenwald Glacier Canyon is a fascinating exploration into the Swiss Alps's glacial history. Follow the marked trails towards the narrow ravine, which stretches over 300meters in depth. Lastly, North Face World Cup downhill skiing slope is a great way to end this fun-filled family holiday.
If you have more time, consider taking a trip to the Top of the Jungfraujoch and glacier viewing. For families with younger children there is a "Children's adventure land" in Grindelwald, with pony rides, slides, and swings, or the Lake Brienz, 20 minutes away. If time is limited, you may skip a day, or replace it with a quieter day in one of the amazing local parks.
