Start your day with a scenic drive to Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. Explore the Ridge, a large open space ideal for taking in the stunning views of the mountains; the Christ Church, the second oldest church in North India; and the Mall road, one of the busiest spots in the city.
Drive to Manali today and witness the ethereal beauty of the Great Himalayan National Park across the way. In Manali, visit the Solang Valley, Rohtang Pass (open only from May to October), and Hidimba Devi Temple, one of the oldest temples in the region.
Depart to Dharamshala, the land of the Dalai Lama, and visit places like the Tsuglagkhang Complex, Dal Lake, and McLeod Ganj, the most vibrant spot here with shops, cafes and restaurants.
Travel to Amritsar, the spiritual and cultural centre of the Sikh religion, and marvel at the Golden Temple, the holiest Gurudwara of Sikhism; and Jallianwala Bagh, a public garden infamous for the 1919 massacre.
Before leaving, visit the magnificent Wagah Border, a few kilometres from the city centre and the only land crossing between India and Pakistan, offering an enthralling ceremony at sunset.
If you have more time, you can visit nearby attractions like Khajjiar, Bir, and Dalhousie, and take a detour to visit the historic cities of Kurukshetra and Panipat. If you have less time, consider skipping Dharamshala and travelling directly to Amritsar from Manali.
