Start your nature-filled adventure at Guindy National Park, one of the few urban national parks in India. Here, you can spot various species of butterflies, birds, and animals, including the blackbuck, spotted deer, and Indian civet. Enjoy a peaceful walk around the park, and don't forget to visit the park's Snake Park, which features various venomous and non-venomous snakes as well as other reptiles.
Just a short drive from Guindy National Park, you'll find the Theosophical Society, a serene oasis in the heart of Chennai. The society's gardens are a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the peaceful silence, and you can also visit the Adyar Banyan Tree, which is over 450 years old and covers an area of over 60,000 square feet. The society also features a library with over 20,000 books on various topics, including philosophy, religion, and culture.
Located on the east coast of India, Covelong Beach is known for its serene waters and golden sand. Spend the morning lounging on the beach, or if you're feeling adventurous, try your hand at water sports like jet skiing or windsurfing. You can also visit the nearby 17th-century Dutch Fort, which has been turned into a luxury resort, and enjoy a meal at one of the beachside restaurants.
End your nature-filled trip at the Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary, one of the oldest bird sanctuaries in India. The sanctuary is home to over 40,000 birds, including various migratory birds like the pintail, garganey, and grey wagtail. You can hire a guide at the sanctuary to help you spot the different bird species, and there are also viewing towers and hides that provide great views of the sanctuary's rich birdlife.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, which is located near Guindy National Park and features various animals, including tigers, lions, and elephants. If you have less time, you can skip the Theosophical Society or the Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary, but we highly recommend visiting at least one of these serene spots. Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and bring sunscreen and water for your nature-filled adventure.
