Start your journey early from Hubli and head towards the Ulavi Caves, located deep in the Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. These ancient caves are believed to be associated with Basavanna, a 12th-century philosopher and poet. The hike to the caves is through dense forests and can be challenging. Once inside the caves, the stunning rock formations and quiet atmosphere are worth the effort.
Take a guided tour of the Kali Tiger Reserve, which is home to tigers, leopards, and a variety of other wildlife. The tours offer a chance to trek through the reserve or take a boat ride on the Kali River to spot animals from a distance. Another option for wildlife viewing is to head to the Crocodile Park, where visitors can view different species of crocodiles and alligators in their natural habitat.
For those with more time, consider adding a white-water rafting adventure on the Kali River or a visit to the Shiroli Peak for stunning views of the Western Ghats. Those with less time may want to skip the Crocodile Park and spend more time in the Kali Tiger Reserve. Remember to bring plenty of water and sturdy walking shoes for your outdoor activities.
