Wednesday, September 13: Arrival in Jammu

Welcome to Jammu! Start your journey by arriving at Jammu Airport or Jammu Tawi Railway Station. From there, hire a taxi or take a pre-booked shuttle to Katra, the base camp for the Vaishnodevi pilgrimage. The drive takes approximately 2 hours. Once you reach Katra, check into your hotel and take some rest. In the afternoon, you can explore the local market and enjoy some local delicacies. In the evening, visit the Ardhkuwari Temple, which is about halfway to the Vaishnodevi shrine. Seek blessings and return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Thursday, September 14: Vaishnodevi Shrine

The revered shrine is situated at an altitude of 5,200 feet, and you can reach it by trekking approximately 13 kilometers from Katra. The trek takes around 4-6 hours, depending on your pace. Along the way, you'll encounter several small temples and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. After reaching the shrine, take blessings from the divine goddess and spend some time in spiritual contemplation. Return to Katra in the evening and rest at your hotel.

Friday, September 15: Bhairavnath Temple and Adhkunwari

On this day, visit the Bhairavnath Temple, located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the Vaishnodevi Shrine. It is believed that the pilgrimage to Vaishnodevi is incomplete without seeking blessings at this temple. After paying your respects, return to Katra. In the afternoon, head to Adhkunwari, which is about halfway between Katra and the Vaishnodevi Shrine. Adhkunwari is a natural cave where Mata Vaishno Devi meditated for 9 months. Explore the cave and experience the spiritual aura. Return to Katra and spend the evening at your leisure.

Saturday, September 16: Departure from Jammu

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Katra and make your way back to Jammu. If time permits, you can visit the historic Raghunath Temple in Jammu or explore the local markets for some last-minute shopping. Later, head to Jammu Airport or Jammu Tawi Railway Station for your onward journey, carrying with you the blessings and memories of the holy Vaishnodevi pilgrimage.

While exploring the Vaishnodevi region, don't miss the opportunity to visit Shivkhori, a mystical cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The journey to Shivkhori offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and is a perfect getaway from the crowd.
