Start your day at the Bangalore Palace, a magnificent structure built in 1887. It has an architecture that reflects the style of England’s Windsor Castle, once the residence of the Wodeyar kings of Mysore. The palace offers a glimpse into the luxurious lives of the royal family of Mysore.
Next is a leisurely stroll in Cubbon Park, a sprawling 300-acre garden in the heart of the city. It was created in 1870 by Major General Richard Sankey, making it one of the oldest parks in India. The park features a variety of flora and fauna, including over 6,000 trees and a number of interesting statues.
Get a taste of Bangalore’s famous food scene with lunch at the iconic Mavalli Tiffin Rooms, popularly known as MTR. This legendary restaurant has been serving some of the best South Indian food for over 90 years and is a must-visit for foodies visiting Bangalore. Try their signature dish, the crispy masala dosa.
After lunch, head to the historic Bangalore Fort, built by Kempe Gowda in the 16th century. Though most of the fort’s architecture is now ruined, several structures still remain, including two large gates and the remains of the palace.
End your day exploring the beautiful Lalbagh Botanical Gardens, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bangalore. The garden features over 1000 species of plants and trees, including rare species of plants. The glasshouse in the garden is modelled after London's Crystal Palace and is equally stunning.
If you have more time, you can visit the ISKCON temple or Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace. For those interested in shopping, Commercial Street or MG Road are great options. If you have less time, you may choose to skip Bangalore Fort, so that you can spend more time at Lalbagh. Be sure to wear comfortable footwear as you will be walking around a lot. Also, carry sufficient water and sunblock for your day out. Finally, be sure to carry cash as a number of places around Lalbagh do not accept digital payments.
