The Basilica of Bom Jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Goa’s most iconic landmarks. It is home to the relics of St. Francis Xavier. The architectural splendor of the building is an exquisite example of Baroque and Renaissance styles. The Se Cathedral is a 16th-century Catholic Cathedral, one of the largest in Asia. Its architecture blends Gothic style with Corinthian details. Visitors marvel at the breathtaking sight of the altars that are ornately decorated with intricate carvings and have paintings depicting scenes from the Bible.
Famous for its beach parties, water sports, shacks, and shopping, Calangute Beach is one of the most happening beaches in Goa. Visitors can take part in water activities such as banana rides, parasailing, and jet skiing. The beach has a variety of restaurants and shacks that serve delicious Goan cuisine. Fort Aguada, located on Sinquerim Beach, is a well-preserved 17th-century Portuguese fort. Visitors can explore the lighthouse and take in panoramic views of the Arabian Sea.
If you have more time, add a visit to the Dudhsagar Waterfalls or the historic Old Goa. If you have less time, skip the Se Cathedral. It is best to visit beaches early in the morning before the crowd arrives. Don’t forget to carry sunscreen, water, and sunglasses. It is always good to carry local currency, and it is safe to use taxis or rent bikes.
