Hampi on a Shoestring Budget

    Start day one by visiting the serene Sanapur Lake for a morning dip or a coracle ride with local fishermen. Next up, explore the impressive Virupaksha Temple with its towering gateway and exquisite carvings and sculptures. A major pilgrimage site, the temple is also home to a massive statue of the sacred bull Nandi. Don't forget to take a stroll around the temple bazaar to pick up souvenirs and handicrafts.

  2. Day 1: Afternoon Adventure

    After a filling lunch at any of the local eatery, head out to conquer the Matanga Hill which offers panoramic views of the city and ruins. The climb can be a bit challenging but is worth the effort. Next, make your way to the stunning Vitthala Temple which is known for its 'musical pillars'. The temple also houses a 6.7-meter-high stone chariot that ha s become an iconic image of Hampi.

  3. Day 2: Exploring Hampi's Heritage Sites

    Day 2 starts early with a visit to the Hazara Rama Temple which is known for its exquisite bas-reliefs. The temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and is located in the royal area of Hampi. The next stop would be the Elephant stables that were used to house the royal elephants. These grand structures are an example of Hampi's secular architecture. The Queen's Bath is the last stop for the day. It was a royal bathing chamber for the royal women and is an excellent example of the Vijaynagara's ornate style.
