Bidar Fort is a magnificent and well-preserved 15th-century fort that is the main attraction of Bidar. The fort premises have several unique structures that demonstrate one of India's most prosperous sultanates' architectural style and taste. The Bahmani Tombs of Bidar are situated outside the fort and are a fitting tribute to a noble dynasty that ruled this part of India for over 150 years. Inaugurated in the early 14th century, this tomb complex houses the graves of the Bahmani dynasty's prominent people.
Basavakalyan is a historical town located towards the west of Bidar, famous for the Basavakalyana Fort and the Anubhava Mantapa. This fort was constructed by the Chalukyas of Kalyana in the 10th century. The Anubhava Mantapa is a significant place in Basavakalyan as it is the place where Basavanna, the founder of the Lingayat religion, spent most of his later life. Papnash Shiva Temple is one of the most famous Shiva shrines in the southern part of India. This ancient temple is believed to have Lord Shiva's self-manifested Shivalinga.
