Old Goa, also known as Velha Goa, was once the capital of Portuguese India and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a 16th-century church containing the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, and the Se Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Asia. Afterwards, explore the Museum of Christian Art and the Archaeological Museum of Goa to learn more about the region's history and culture.
Spend a relaxing day at the Palolem Beach, one of the most picturesque and popular beaches in Goa. Enjoy water sports, such as kayaking and paddleboarding, or simply soak up the sun and feast on fresh seafood at one of the many beach shacks. In the afternoon, take a boat ride to nearby Butterfly Beach to see dolphins and butterflies in their natural habitat.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Fort Aguada and the Chapora Fort, two of Goa's iconic fortresses, or taking a day trip to the Dudhsagar Waterfalls. If you have less time, skip the Archaeological Museum of Goa or the boat ride to Butterfly Beach. It's recommended to wear comfortable footwear and clothing, and carry sunscreen and water bottles, especially during the summer months.
