Begin your journey in Shillong, known as the "Scotland of the East". Visit the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures to learn about the rich tribal heritage of Northeast India. Take a stroll to the beautiful Wards Lake for a tranquil time in nature. Don't forget to indulge in some authentic Khasi cuisine at one of the many local restaurants.
Head to Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, the wettest place on earth. Visit the magnificent Nohkalikai Falls, the fourth-highest waterfall in the world, and the Mawsmai Cave for an adventurous caving experience. Take a walk along the Double-decker Living Root Bridge which is unique to this region and is a marvellous example of bio-engineering.
Drive to Dawki, situated on the Indo-Bangladesh border, and experience the crystal-clear waters of the Umgot River by taking a boat ride. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the Mawlynnong Village, Asia's cleanest village and marvel at the roots of the tall trees in the Living Root Tree Bridge.
Head back to Shillong and visit the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, an impressive structure that holds great historical and religious significance. Take a drive to the scenic Laitlum Canyons and be mesmerised by the stunning panoramic views. End the day shopping at the lively Police Bazaar.
Make your way to Shillong Peak, the highest point in Shillong, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the city. Visit the Elephant Falls, which is named after an elephant shaped rock near the falls, for an enchanting waterfall experience. End your trip with some souvenir shopping at Dennis Plaza.
If you have more time, you can add a visit to the Krem Mawmluh Cave and the Nongkhnum Island. If you have less time, you can skip the Elephant Falls. Avoid visiting during the monsoon season as the weather can be unpredictable and can hinder some activities.
