A stroll through the quaint streets lined with Chinese-style houses and other European landmarks such as the St. Francis Church will transport you to a different time. Don't forget to visit the Indo-Portuguese Museum that contains an impressive collection of artifacts from the Portuguese era.
Alleppey, or Alappuzha, is the perfect place for a relaxing day on a houseboat. You can take a leisurely ride through the narrow canals and backwaters while enjoying the beautiful scenery. A highlight of the trip is stopping for a delicious lunch of local cuisine prepared on the houseboat. If you prefer to stay on land, visit the Alleppey Beach, where you can take a long walk along the Arabian Sea. The beach also has plenty of food and drink vendors and children's activities.
Munnar is a beautiful hill station located at an altitude of 1600m. This scenic town is well-known for its tea plantations, natural beauty and narrow winding road. If you enjoy hiking, the Eravikulam National Park is an excellent place to see the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and beautiful mountain ranges. For a unique experience, visit the Mattuppetty Dam, where you can take a boat ride and view the mountains from the water. The Tea Museum is also an informative stop about the tea industry in Munnar.
If you have extra time, visit Kumarakom, where you can spend time at a bird sanctuary and experience local craft-making. If you want to reduce your travel time, consider staying in a resort in an area like Mararikulam instead of Fort Kochi.
If you have less time, skip Munnar and spend more time in Alleppey houseboats or explore the beaches more.
