Marvel at the 2nd highest waterfall in India at Jog Falls. The four cascades - Raja, Rani, Roarer and Rocket - are a sight to behold. Take a boat ride to the bottom of the falls to get up close and personal with the powerful rush of water. A small park nearby provides a great picnic spot and amazing views of the falls.
Explore the historic Kavaledurga Fort situated on top of a mountain. Built in the 9th century, the ruins of the fort stand tall with panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The trek up to the fort is a bit challenging but scenic. The fort has a deep well that provided water during the times of war.
Get to know the big cats up close at the Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Reserve. Take a safari through the park to witness the majestic animals roam around in their natural habitat. Apart from tigers and lions, the reserve is also home to hyenas, leopard, and sloth bears. Watch the animals being fed and learn about their conservation.
If you have an additional day, visit the picturesque Honnemaradu backwaters or go on a spiritual tour to the Sharavati River and Linganamakki Dam. If you have less time, you can remove Kavaledurga Fort from the itinerary.
