After spending a few hours here, head over to the Elephant Stables, an impressive royal stable that used to guard the royal elephants of the Vijayanagara Empire. It is an excellent example of the Indo-Islamic style of architecture.
In the evening, walk over to the Matanga Hill, located on the eastern side of the Hampi Bazaar. The climb to the top of the hill is steep, but the panoramic views of Hampi from the top are incredible. Watching the sunset on the hill is a must-do activity.
Next, head over to the Vittala Temple. Considered one of the most ornate and beautiful temples in Hampi, it used to be a holy shrine of Lord Vishnu, the protector, and caretaker of the universe.
After that, visit the Queen's Bath, which is a royal palace bathhouse that used to be functional during the Vijayanagara Empire period. Majestic, glorious and intricately designed marble work, sculptures, and ornamental gardening.
Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring other heritage sites such as the Lotus Mahal, Underground Shiva Temple, Pushkarani, and Ugra Narasimha Statue, before starting for Hyderabad in the early evening.
If you have more time, explore some more ancient temples like the Achyut Raya Temple & Kodanda Ramaswamy Temple.
If you have less time in Hampi, skip some less popular places. Save time and skip the long lines with online entry ticket bookings.
