Take a day trip to Nungwi, Kendwa and other Northern beaches with pristine white sand, crystal clear waters and spectacular sunsets. Explore Zanzibar's spice history with a guided tour of a spice farm. Smell and taste spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves while learning about their medicinal properties. Visit a local market and learn how to cook a Swahili meal using the spices you've just tasted.
Take a boat tour to Prison Island to see giant tortoises and old ruins of the prison that was never used as such. There is also a lovely beach where you can swim and relax.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Changuu Island, the Mbweni Ruins, or the Old Fort. For those with less time, you can cut out the Spice Tour or choose only one beach to visit. Make sure to bring comfortable shoes and a mosquito repellent as some activities may involve walking or hiking.
