4-Day Family Friendly Chennai Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Marina Beach
    30 minutes (15km) from Chennai International Airport

    Begin your trip by visiting one of the longest urban beaches in the world, Marina Beach. You can enjoy a leisurely walk by the Bay of Bengal, try street food or refreshing coconut water, watch fishermen at work, or take a horse carriage ride.

  2. Day 2: Government Museum

    Explore some of Chennai's ancient history and cultural heritage by visiting the Government Museum. The museum has a well-curated collection of South Indian bronzes, traditional woodwork, textiles, and ancient artifacts. Kids will enjoy seeing the real dinosaur skeletons, botany and zoology galleries.

  3. Day 3: Mahabalipuram
    1 hour 24 minutes (60km) from Government Museum

    Head to Mahabalipuram, home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has numerous temples, pristine beaches, and intriguing rock-cut caves. Visit Arjuna's Penance, a rock sculpture tracing a mythological story, the Five Rathas, single-stone monolithic shrines, and the Shore Temple, a five-story pyramidal structure facing the Bay of Bengal.

  4. Day 4: VGP Universal Kingdom
    47 minutes (17km) from Mahabalipuram

    On the last day, let loose at VGP Universal Kingdom, a popular amusement park with a variety of rides, a water park, and a snow kingdom. It also has a petting zoo, a ferris wheel, and a food court. You can take family-friendly rides, like the Free Fall tower, the Himalayan Water ride or indulge in some snowplay.
