Start your day off with a visit to the iconic Gateway of India, a historic monument and gathering place in the city. Then, head over to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Mumbai's most impressive railway stations. For lunch, savor traditional Indian street food at Chowpatty Beach. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the grandiose Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum.
Take a scenic drive to Lonavala, a stunning hill station famous for its lush green valleys, waterfalls and scenic trails. Spend the day enjoying the outdoors at Lonavala Lake, where you can go boating or indulge in some of the area's best bird watching. Hike up to Lohagad Fort to see some incredible views of the city below. End the day with a visit to Karla Caves, a network of ancient Buddhist shrines and temples.
Drive over to Khandala, a town located in the Sahyadri mountain range which offers breathtaking views and serene environs. Take an adventurous trek up to Duke's Nose, a cliff that is 2700 feet high, or visit the calming Kune Falls for some peaceful relaxation. Nagphani or the Duke’s Nose summit are excellent spots for rock climbing and rappelling. End your day at the Sunset Point, where you can get stunning views of the sun setting on the Sahyadri Mountains.
If you have more time in Mumbai, consider visiting the Babulnath Temple, the Haji Ali Dargah, and the Elephanta Caves. If you have extra time in Lonavala, go on a camping trip or visit the Bhaja and Bedse Caves. For a quicker trip, skip the Khandala excursion and spend more time in Mumbai or Lonavala instead.
