Start your morning by visiting Ulhas Valley, a picturesque location located near Karjat Railway Station. The valley is covered with lush greenery and is an ideal spot for a family picnic or a scenic walk. You can also enjoy a refreshing dip in the natural pools formed by waterfalls, which are abundant in the area.
After exploring Ulhas Valley, drive to the nearby Kondana Caves. These caves date back to the 2nd century BC and are famous for their beautiful sculptures and carvings. There are around 16 caves in total, and the main cave is a chaitya griha (prayer hall) with elaborate carvings on the pillars.
Before ending your first day, visit the Bhivpuri Waterfall, a beautiful natural waterfall located in the middle of the forest. The waterfall is a bit tricky to reach, but you can hire a local guide to show you the way. The site is perfect for a refreshing swim or a relaxing picnic.
Start your second day by visiting the famous Shreevardhan Fort. The fort was built in the 17th century and is a testament to the architectural skill of the Maratha Empire. From the top of the fort, you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Sahyadri mountain range and the nearby Peth Fort.
After exploring the fort, drive to Aamrai Agro Tourism Center, a unique agro-tourism center that promotes sustainable farming and agriculture. You can take a tour of the farm, participate in various farming activities, and, of course, taste fresh produce from the farm. The center is an excellent way to learn about agriculture while having fun with your family.
If you have more time to spare, you can consider visiting other nearby spots such as Peth Fort or Bhaja Caves. On the other hand, if you have less time, you can skip Bhivpuri Waterfall and head straight to Shreevardhan Fort, which is a must-visit spot. Don't forget to pack comfortable clothes, a hat, and sunscreen as the weather can get hot in Karjat, especially during the summer months.
