Start your day by trekking up to Tringalwadi Fort. Perched on top of a hill, the fort offers breathtaking views of the lush green surroundings. You'll also get to see the Tringalwadi Lake and the Kalsubai Mountain range in the distance. The trek takes around 1-2 hours, and it's a little steep in places, so wear comfortable shoes.
Take a break from the trek and head to Dhamma Giri Meditation Centre. It's known for its Vipassana meditation courses, and you can attend a one-day course or a 10-day course (if you're feeling adventurous). Even if you're not interested in meditation, the centre is worth a visit for its tranquil surroundings, Buddhist art, and architecture.
Cool off at Shagun Water Park, which has a variety of water slides, wave pools, and kiddie zones. The park is especially popular with families, and there are plenty of food and drink options on-site. If you're not in the mood for water activities, you can explore the landscaped gardens and stroll around the lake.
The Global Vipassana Pagoda is an impressive monument dedicated to promoting peace and goodwill. The architecture is inspired by the Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar, and the structure houses the largest stone dome in the world without any supporting pillars. You can take a guided tour of the pagoda and learn about the history of meditation and the teachings of Buddha.
End your day by unwinding at Talegaon Lake. The lake is surrounded by mountains and is known for its peaceful ambiance. You can go boating on the lake, take a leisurely walk around it, or just sit on a bench and watch the sunset. There are also food vendors and snack stalls near the lake, so you can have a quick bite before heading back to Igatpuri.
If you have more time, you can add a visit to the Bhatsa River Valley, which is known for its scenic beauty and trekking trails. If you have less time, you can skip Dhamma Giri Meditation Centre or Shagun Water Park. Keep in mind that the Tringalwadi Fort trek can be challenging, so bring plenty of water and snacks.
