Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is home to over 400 species of birds, including migratory birds that visit during the winter months. Take a leisurely boat ride through the mangroves and spot the different species of birds nesting and feeding. The sanctuary also has a nature trail where you can spot amphibians, reptiles, butterflies and wildflowers. A guided tour is recommended for a more immersive experience.
Located on the Mandovi River, Dudhsagar Falls is a four-tiered waterfall that cascades down the mountains from a height of 310 meters. The falls are most impressive during the monsoon season, but the surrounding forests and views are worth the visit year-round. Go trekking, bird-watching, or just relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Keep in mind that the falls are closed during the monsoon season (June - September).
The Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary is ideal for nature lovers who want to explore the beauty of the Western Ghats. The sanctuary is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including tigers, leopards, and snakes. The forest boasts various trekking trails - ranging from easy to challenging - enabling visitors to explore the area's dense forests, cascading waterfalls and hidden natural pools.
The Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and Mollem National Park are a popular destination for trekking and birdwatching. It is home to several species of deer, bison, and the elusive black panther. Besides that, there are several trekking trails to the Dudhsagar Falls, Devil's Canyon, and Tambdi Surla. Visitors can also go on a safari ride or a jungle trek, or discover the park's natural beauty and waterfalls.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Salaulim Dam. For those who have less time, it is recommended to drop either the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary or Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. Alternatively, you could extend your stay or hire a private tour guide for added convenience.
