You can visit the Matrimandir, a huge golden globe that serves as the spiritual heart of Auroville, and explore the nearby gardens and banyan tree groves. Entry to Matrimandir requires prior appointment.
The ashram was founded by Sri Aurobindo, an Indian philosopher and spiritual guru, and his disciple Mirra Alfassa, known as "The Mother." The ashram promotes a way of life based on inner growth and self-discipline. You can visit the ashram's various departments such as Library, Printing Press or purchase perfumes and handmade soaps from the ashram store.
The French Quarters is a charming area of Pondicherry filled with colonial-era mansions, bakeries, and cafes. You can stroll through the quiet streets, admire the colorful buildings, and have lunch at one of the many French or Tamil eateries. Visit the beautiful church of Our Lady of Angels, which is situated in the middle of the French Quarters, to admire its neo-gothic architecture and beautiful stained-glass windows.
The museum showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region, with a collection of rare sculptures and ancient artifacts dating back to the Pallava and Chola dynasties. While park is a well-maintained garden surrounded by a few landmark buildings such as Pondicherry Legislative Assembly, the Pondicherry Museum and Dupleix Statue.
After a busy day of sightseeing, Serenity Beach is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Bay of Bengal. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Pondicherry and gives a feel of Goa's beaches. You can enjoy water sports like surfing, boogie boarding, and swimming. You can also sip some hot tea and enjoy the view of the sunset on the rocks.
If you have more time, you can visit the Chunnambar Boat House, Paradise Beach, Botanical Gardens or enjoy some traditional Tamil cuisine. If you have less time, you may choose to skip Bharathi Park and Museum or Serenity Beach.
