A Day Exploring Sri Lanka

1. 8:00AM: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
   2 hours 15 minutes (70 km) from Colombo

   Watch as the elephants are bathed and fed before taking a walk with them to the river. The orphanage is an incredible place to see hundreds of elephants and learn about their history.

2. 11:00AM: Temple of the Tooth Relic
   3 hours (110 km) from Pinnawala

   A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most holy places in Sri Lanka, this temple houses the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. The temple is a fascinating place to explore and learn about Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

3. 2:00PM: Sigiriya Rock Fortress
   2 hours (80 km) from the Temple of the Tooth Relic

   One of the top attractions in Sri Lanka, the fortress is a stunning example of ancient architecture and engineering. Climb to the top for breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

4. 5:00PM: Sunset at Dambulla Cave Temple
   40 minutes (20 km) from Sigiriya

   An incredible temple complex with over 150 stunning Buddha statues and paintings. Sunset is the perfect time to visit and enjoy the stunning views.

Useful tips

If you have more time, consider visiting the ancient city of Anuradhapura or taking a train ride through the hills. If you have less time, skip the Temple of the Tooth Relic and spend more time at Sigiriya or Dambulla Cave Temple. Remember to bring sunscreen, comfortable shoes, and plenty of water.
