Start your first day by waking up early and heading to Vaishnodevi Darshan, one of the most popular and sacred shrines in India. A spiritual journey with an exquisite view makes it unique and an ideal place to start your trip. This shrine is located in Katra, which is just an hour's drive from Jammu, and is surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains and forests. After you reach the shrine, you will have to trek up to the temple. The trek is around 14 km, and you can choose to walk or take a horse/pony ride. The trek is well-laid-out with refreshment stalls, shade huts and public toilets to provide comfort while the trek.
Begin your day by visiting the Bhaironath temple, situated atop a hill, which is around 2 km away from the Vaishnodevi temple. The temple provides magnificent scenic views and an invigorating trek for two kilometers, and is an ideal spot for solitude and meditation. According to Hinduism, it is believed that the pilgrimage to Vaishnodevi would remain incomplete if one does not visit the Bhaironath Temple.
If you have more time, you can plan a day trip to Jammu, which has a rich cultural heritage and is also known as the City of Temples. The city has a lot of enchanting spots to explore.
