The castle of Gramvousa sits on top of a rocky outcrop on a small island. You can take a boat trip to the island and climb to the top of the castle for breathtaking views of the sea and the surrounding coastline.
The Botanical Park and Gardens of Crete offer a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere with a wide variety of plants and trees. You can take a leisurely walk or enjoy a picnic in the shade of the trees.
The Old Town of Chania has charming narrow streets, Venetian and Ottoman architecture, cute shops, and a lot of restaurants and bars. You'll get to see the famous Chania Lighthouse and try some of the best local cuisine.
The Monastery of Arkadi has a rich history and is also a holy site for the Orthodox Christians. The monastery consists of beautiful 16th-century buildings and a museum with exhibits related to the monastery's history.
If you have more time, you may want to consider visiting Balos Lagoon, Falassarna Beach and the Palace of Knossos. If you have less time, it's recommended to skip the Monastery of Arkadi and the Botanical Park and Gardens of Crete, or re-arrange the itinerary. Open early in the morning to avoid the crowds and heat in summer and bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
