Begin your journey in Monterosso al Mare, the largest village in Cinque Terre. Set off on a scenic hike on the coastline trail where you'll see breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. Once you get to Vernazza, explore its charming piazza, castle and church. Don't forget to try some signature food like focaccia and pesto.
A visit to Riomaggiore offers ancient history and beautiful homes built on rocky cliffs. Tour their historic church and the castle before heading to Manarola. Manarola is no less impressive, home to a beautiful harbour, narrow alleys, and a magnificent landscape to explore.
Take your breakfast overlooking the beautiful landscape in Corniglia, which is located atop a rocky outcrop. Later, head to the secluded Guvano beach for sunbathing and swimming in the cool water.
Start your final day with a scenic hike on the trails of Sciacchetrà, an enchanting landscape filled with steep hills and lush vineyards. Enjoy the vibrant culture and history offered by Porto Venere and make sure to visit the stunning San Pietro church with incredible views of the nearby islands.
Travel within Cinque Terre is very flexible and fun! It is possible to travel from village to village by train or by ferry, but the latter option is limited only to summer. A Cinque Terre Card allows for unlimited train travel between the villages and access to trails for the day at €16 ($19) per person. Taxis can be convenient but cost more money.
For a more relaxed adventure, consider allocating an additional day or two. You can spend more time relaxing on the beaches, tasting local food or you can hop to nearby cities such as Pisa or Florence for a day trip.
The nearest airport to Cinque Terre is Pisa International Airport (PSA) located 85km away from the cities. The other nearby airport is the Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA) located approximately 120km away from Cinque Terre. Both airports have taxi services, bus or train services that you can use to travel to the cities.
