Transportation

The best way to get around Venice is by walking or taking water taxis along its iconic canals, known as 'vaporetti.' The vaporetti is a traditional boat taxi that offers a convenient way to get around the city. The cost of a single trip is €7.50 for 75 minutes or you can opt for a 24-hour pass for €20. Visitors can also benefit from an unlimited one-day water taxi pass, also known as ACTV, which can be purchased for €40 per person.

Useful Tips

If you have less time, consider spending a half-day visiting the islands of Burano and Murano or the required art exhibitions in the Palazzo Grassi or Peggy Guggenheim museum. On the other hand, if you have more days, plan a visit to the Lido island with its gorgeous beaches, and other northern islands.

Airports

The main airport in Venice is the Marco Polo Airport (VCE). It is located near the city of Venice, approximately 8km north of the city center. Treviso Airport (TSF) is roughly 26 km away from the city. There are private and shared taxi services available for transportation from the airport to the Venice city center, the most expensive options, costing around 70 EUR one-way. Another alternative is to take the ACTV local bus service, which takes around 30 minutes to reach the city center, and costs 8 EUR per person.
