Get a glimpse of exotic animals in their natural habitat at the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. Take a jeep safari and see if you can spot elephants, tigers, leopards, and more. The sanctuary is also home to numerous bird species and you can take a birdwatching tour. Make sure to carry enough water and wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
Explore the Edakkal Caves, one of the largest prehistoric caves in Kerala. These caves are famous for its ancient carvings and wall paintings that are believed to date back to the Neolithic age. The trek to the caves can be challenging, but the magnificent views of the surrounding hills will make it totally worth it.
Embark on a trek to the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The 3-hour trek will take you through lush green forests and picturesque landscapes, and finally to a heart-shaped lake at the top of the peak. The view from the peak is breathtakingly beautiful. Remember to carry enough water and wear sturdy shoes.
If you have more time, you can visit other places like the Banasura Sagar Dam, Pookode Lake, or the Thirunelli Temple. If you have less time, you can skip either the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary or the Edakkal Caves. Make sure to carry a light backpack with essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, and a hat. Additionally, avoid carrying plastic and littering the environment.
