3-Day Wayanadu Adventure Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    30 minutes (11.3 km) from Kalpetta

    Begin the adventure with a challenging trek up the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanadu. The trek is around 4.5 km long and takes about 3-4 hours. At the top, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the heart-shaped lake. Please note that prior permission from the Forest Range Office in Meppadi is necessary to climb the peak.

  2. Day 2: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour (30.5 km) from Kalpetta

    Experience the wildlife at Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, home to elephants, tigers, leopards, and several species of birds. Hop on a jeep safari or an elephant safari guided by naturalists and explore the tranquil forests. The sanctuary also offers hiking trails and watchtowers for bird watching and wildlife spotting.

  3. Day 3: Soochipara Falls
    1 hour 30 minutes (49.6 km) from Kalpetta

    End the adventure with a swim and picnic at the picturesque Soochipara Falls. The three-tiered falls drop from a height of 200 meters and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. The falls are accessible via a short trek through the forest and visitors can enjoy a dip in the cool waters. Please note that swimming is allowed only in the lower tiers of the falls.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, consider adding a visit to the Edakkal Caves, an ancient rock shelter with intriguing carvings and paintings. You can also visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India and enjoy boating and hiking trails. If you have less time, you can skip the trek to Chembra Peak and explore the scenic views from the Lakkidi Viewpoint instead.
