Begin your adventure by visiting the Athirappilly Waterfall, a stunning 80-foot waterfall that cascades down into the Chalakkudy River. The surrounding lush greenery and wildlife make for a great photo opportunity and an unforgettable experience. Take a dip in the freshwater pool or go for a hike through the surrounding jungle. Guides are available for treks and hikes to explore the area.
On your second day, head over to the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, a protected tiger reserve and wildlife sanctuary, where you can take a jeep safari to see tigers, elephants, sloth bears, and more. Trekking and birdwatching are also available. You can opt for an overnight stay in one of the reserve area's eco-tourism cottages or tents in the reserve, which can be arranged before your visit.
If you have more time in Kerala, you can add a visit to the Eravikulam National Park or Tea Museum in Munnar, or the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Wayanad. For those with less time, you can skip one of the two recommended sites or consider a more leisurely pace. Don't forget to bring sunscreen, comfortable hiking shoes, and mosquito repellent. It's best to book a guide in advance for an easier and more enjoyable experience, as some of these sites might be challenging to navigate independently.
