    Located at an altitude of 1200 mtrs above sea level, Edakkal Caves are famed for their prehistoric carvings on the walls of the cave, dating back 6,000 BC. The island is situated amidst the Kabini river and is a protected river delta, which houses several rare species of birds, orchids, herbal plants etc. A bamboo raft ride along the river makes a visit to this island truly unforgettable.
